Inspiration

Happy Friday – I was surprised to wake up to find out it was Friday already.  What a crazy week!!  I thought I’d do a bit of house update before the long weekend.

I am so happy with the way things are coming around.  This is RC’s room where the white trim looks awesome.

All of the kids’ rooms are 98% finished and we will be moving some things in over the weekend. I want to get the borrowed trailers cleaned out so we can get them back to their owners.

There really isn’t a lot left to do.  Mostly it’s some wiring, trim work and finish items.  And I’ll update some more next week.  I wanna show you my kitchen!!

Today  however, I thought I’d share some of the ideas I want to work into my house via Pinterest.  You can follow me HERE on Pinterest.

Because of the way the counter top is, I am going to be able to add some of the tile like this in the kids’ bathroom. I love this look.  Love the black, but I won’t have that in this room.  Just the tile.

I love the white shelves.  Since it’s hard for Greg to reach up to the upper cabinets, we only have a few of them, and then I’ll add shelves like this for displaying my Fiesta ware.  I also love the hooks for the cups.  I plan to make my coffee station, just under this so the cups are accessible.

When I planned the mud room, I didn’t plan a closet.  Does anyone’s kids EVER hang there coats on hangers?  It’s always a fight, so I planned cubbies.  At the very least they can put their coat on a hook, plus backpacks, and place for their shoes, they school needs, etc.  Right by the door and hidden from the public.  Well, almost.

I can’t wait to share these finished projects.

The auction…

Hey there!!  I haven’t forgot about the blog – just haven’t been around.

We were able to spend last Saturday at an auction sale.  It was a monster of a sale but it was a pretty good way to spend the day.  I have to laugh, because growing up I hated auction sales and 2nd hand stores.  However, I am glad my parents drug me to them then, because I love them now!!  My kids loved this one too.

The boys got a huge box of 120 Hot Wheels cars.  This wasn’t even a dent in the boxes that were there, but we promised we would try to get some.

McKinley got a box of Barbies.  Again, this was only a fraction of what was selling.  However, she was super excited to get some new dolls, even though they were older ones.  (I claimed the 1998 Graduation Barbie – yeah that is when I graduated!)

Greg got some tools and gun reloading stuff.  So it really was a sale for everyone!!

I got some awesome big ticket items that I’ve been looking for for some time.

I got an awesome trunk for $27.  There were a few to choose from and I think I got the best one there.

I got these two awesome sleds.  I’ve had my eye on them for a long time as well, wanting one to use around the holidays.  Can’t wait for to use them now!!

Then we scored this end table.  We needed a bedside table and Greg started on a redo of it for me.   We also got the kids a guitar with it.  Funny the things they throw together, but we were looking at both items!!

My favorite items are these old paper rolls.  I am not 100% sure where they will go, but I am so excited to put them up in the craft room!

Some big things are happening at the house this week, so I’ll share as the week goes.

Enjoy!!

Flooring

Not much to update you on the terms of the house.  We were still waiting on the plumbers but they’ve been there and are working now!  WOO HOO…

We are also waiting on the kitchen cabinets, some more electrical work and then for some reason my craft room.  Surprised smile  I like to make sure they know I am annoyed that it’s the last room to be worked on.  Winking smile

Anyway, we have gotten the flooring in (except my craft room!)

This is looking into the kitchen and dining area from the living room.  Of course, the floor is full of footprints, but it’s still so pretty!!

This one is turned around looking into the living room.  We have this flooring throughout the whole house with the exception of the bathrooms.  It’s all laminate floating floors I picked out at our local furniture store.  (I will find out the name for sure!)  I did not put any carpet in for a cleaning reasons and mobility for Greg.

I may  have posted this before, but this is the other flooring.  This is going in the three bathrooms and the mud room.  It’s linoleum and it looks like fancy smancy tile!!  It’s beautiful!!

I am excited to share all of the rooms as they each get done!!

The Weekend

We all enjoyed our first official weekend of country living.  We are staying with the neighbors, aka my parents while the house gets finished up.  We are pretty comfortable here, thankful for them and their generosity in letting us stay here.
IMG_8451
My aunt and uncle were here last week doing some work, and they came out after dinner for dessert and fireworks.
IMG_8450
RC helped my uncle set up the fireworks in the “best artistic display” for us.  They did a good job.
IMG_8457
Saturday we had to get up and clean up after them.
IMG_8460
We had to go up on the hill to find the parachute jumpers.
IMG_8465
We picked some wildflowers.
IMG_8469
Had to show PokeyMan our finds.
IMG_8475
We checked out the garden.  Grandma was nice enough to plant McKinley her own little garden in a rain gutter that we can move with us.
IMG_8485
These things may be weeds, but darn if they don’t have some beauty to them.
IMG_8490
We had to try out some mudpies before the BBQ that RC was hosting.
IMG_8498
An afternoon storm rolled in, before another one later in the evening.
IMG_8502
I love to watch the sky, watching the clouds form.
IMG_8514
We could only see the ends of the rainbow.  And even though I harass my mom about taking rainbow pictures, I took a couple.
IMG_8517
I loved how the sky looked after the last storm and before bed.
It’s gonna be a busy week.  My grandfather passed away Saturday, so we have a funeral and family gatherings this week.  I’ll update you on the house progress as soon as I can.

Randomness

Hey there.. we are surviving the move.  I need to finish a bit at the town house and we will be ready to close on it.  Unfortunately, it won’t be today  like we thought but really what else is new right?
I just thought I’d show you some of the things I’ve captured on my camera the last few days.
IMG_8415 We had a picnic on the lawn for lunch.
IMG_8425
We had to check on the kittens.  They so badly want out of the barrel they are in, but I don’t know if their mama can get them out.  We might need to help her.
IMG_8427
These guys got out of their barrel and are in the hay.  We can’t reach them anymore.
IMG_8431
OK, last kitten picture.
IMG_8436
How about a rooster.
IMG_8414
We love being outside before we even get dressed.
IMG_8401
McKinley had her first dance performance.
I need to get over and update you on the house.  For now, I’m off to enjoy the weekend.
